MAKES A REAL DIFFERENCE
The Significance of Joining God’s Global Mission
God has consistently desired to reach every corner of the world since the beginning. He has designed His mission to deliver salvation and hope to every nation, while offering restoration. He calls His followers to join Him in this remarkable work. Our participation in God’s worldwide mission matters deeply because we are called to extend His work of salvation and hope to every corner of the Earth.
1. God’s Mission is for All Nations
God’s purpose has encompassed all people since the start because His plan is inherently worldwide. In Genesis 12:3, God tells Abraham, “All peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” This promise comes to completion when Jesus instructs His followers to spread the gospel across the world, saying in Matthew 28:19-20,
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
2. Jesus Commands Us to Go
The Great Commission represents a directive rather than an optional task. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus tells His followers to make disciples throughout all nations: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”
Participation in global mission work represents obedience to God's command. Each of us performs essential duties to accomplish Christ's mission through travel, support, financial contributions, or prayer.
3. The Harvest is Plentiful
Jesus reminds us in Luke 10:2, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” The world has countless people who have yet to hear the gospel, and the demand for missionaries and church-planting supporters remains critical.
4. We Reflect God’s Heart
God desires salvation for every human being. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 states, “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” Our participation in global missions demonstrates God’s love for the world.
According to Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Our mission involves being His witnesses throughout the entire world, which requires us to cross cultural boundaries and break through barriers to spread Christ’s message everywhere.
5. The Church Grows Through Mission
The early church experienced growth when believers spread the gospel outside their familiar environments. Paul and his companions delivered the message throughout different regions, as stated in Romans 15:20: “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.”
Churches demonstrate growth by adopting mission-focused strategies that enable them to enhance outreach programs both within their local areas and throughout the world.
6. It’s a Picture of Heaven
Revelation 7:9 gives us a beautiful vision of eternity: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.”
Our support for global mission endeavors brings this vision to life, as we join in gathering people from every nation, tribe, and language before God’s throne.
