WHY IS GOOD FRIDAY GOOD

Here’s the amazing yet confronting reality:

It’s not about YOU and it’s not about ME—it’s all about JESUS.

The Truth About Us

On our own, we are broken, rebellious, and sinful.

Scripture says:

"For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." — Romans 3:23

That’s the hard truth. Sin isn’t just a mistake or a minor flaw—it brings death. Not just physical death, but death in our relationships, emotions, and ultimately, spiritual death. Death is not an accidental consequence of life; it is the just result of rebellion against God. Sin must be judged—no righteous judge overlooks wrongdoing just because he feels like it. That would be injustice.

And if we’re honest, we see it all around us. The self-centred pursuit of happiness, power, and control brings destruction in its wake. It’s a universal problem.

"Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness." — 1 John 3:4(See also: Deuteronomy 9:7, Joshua 1:18)

What’s Actually Good?

No matter how “good” we think we are or how well life is going, it’s just brokenness comparing itself to brokenness. If this life is the best we can hope for, that’s a problem.

But Good Friday isn’t about how bad we are—it’s about how good JESUS is.

"He is the image of the invisible God." — Colossians 1:15

Jesus is perfect, pure, holy, loving, merciful, and overflowing with grace. And because of His love, He did something unthinkable:

"While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." — Romans 5:8

The Game-Changer: Good Friday

On Good Friday, everything changed. Sin was dealt with once and for all through the grace given by Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

To give us life, He took on death. He bore our punishment and carried our burdens.

He was:

  • Beaten

  • Scourged

  • Hung on a Cross to Die

Why? Because God’s love placed Him there—to take the punishment that I deserved.

And now, we no longer have to be ruled by sin. We can truly LIVE through God’s grace. YOU can step into His life, turn from death, and follow Him. You can be part of His mission to bring hope to the world.

"...he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." — Isaiah 53:5 (Also quoted in 1 Peter 2:24)

More Than Just "Good Friday"

Because of Jesus, I can have life, because He took my death.

So today isn’t just “Good Friday.” It’s “I Am Amazed at the Love and Grace of God” Friday.

And that changes everything.
